Many of the facts and elements that caused the Navy to host the high school on base had changed by the late 50's.  For one thing the on base housing which was needed in the 40's and early 50's was no longer needed as homes and real estate became available in Ridgecrest.  Presumably reductions in force had something to do with the change.  So in 1959 the Navy released land to Ridgecrest .on which  to build a new high school,  Accurate dates were not available at this writing but I estimate that the first graduating class from the new high school was the class of 60.
  The new high shcool was a big deal.  It was administered differently now and of course during the construction phase the City Fathers and some School administration folk had a ground breaking dedication ceremony.    They did this very early in the building of the school as can be seen by the workman laying brick while the officials mounted a plaque in the left hand photo.
So a new beginning . . . . . . .

After the last construction crew goes away and the building is done we have a new high school!!
