Big Pine |

Approaching Big Pine on Hwy. 395 |
Big Pine a small town along highway 395 on the way to Bishop which serves as a gateway
to the Alabama Hills, several creeks, canyons, and old gnarled bristlecone
pine trees that are hundreds of years old. A nice little town with a park
and a fire station with an all volunteer fire dept., town hall, a shopping area,
a nice country church, a library and some well preserved older homes. More then that it is a historic town. One of many in this area which played a role in the LA Aqueduct project to providing a place for trans-shipping of mining ore from local mines. More about this area can be seen here. |
