Employee Celebration China Lake Designated as a National Historic Site. Plaque Unveiling, Public Reception, and Awards Dinner April 28. RDML Skinner to Speak The American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA) has chosen China Lake as an AIAA Historic Aerospace Site for 2006. The 100-word citation includes thirteen major aerospace and aeronautical accomplishments. A formal dedication ceremony will be held April 28, 2006 at the U.S. Naval Museum of Armament and Technology. The bronze plaque will be unveiled at 4:00 p.m., followed by a free public reception in the museum, sponsored by AIAA. Refreshments will be served. At a later date, two other identical plaques will be installed at Michelson Laboratory and the Visitor’s Center. Later that evening, starting at 6:00 p.m., the local AIAA chapter is having an award celebration dinner outside the museum on the lanai. Tickets are $20 each, $15 for military, and can be purchased at the China Lake Museum Foundation, Inc. gift shop Monday through Saturday from 10:00 to 4:00 p.m. 939-3530. Guests will have a dinner choice of pit roasted beef or pork. In addition, a multimedia showcase on a large outdoor screen will feature video clips of the thirteen areas of technology mentioned in the bronze plaque citation.
